A Parade and Accolades: Space City Represented at Astros World Series Celebration

2022-11-08

On Nov. 7, 2022, the NASA Johnson Space Center team participated in the Houston Astros World Series parade in downtown Houston, sharing the wonder of our Space Exploration Vehicle with more than a million Houstonians celebrating our hometown team. Retired NASA employee Chet Vaughn — who started his career when NASA was NACA in 1957 — and his daughter Stephanie Kelly loaned their 1966 Mustang for the festivities, and Johnson Director Vanessa Wyche waved to Space City fans along the parade route.

Special thanks to Johnson team members David Davis, Adrian Alomo, and Rob O’Rell from PAE; Lucien Junkin, James Jobe, Ed Herrera, Robert Howard, Ryan Stockton, and Matt Richards from Engineering; Josh Valcarcel with photography support from JSC’s Office of the Chief Information Officer; and the External Relations Office team for providing exhibits, media, and logistical support for quick-turnaround parade appearance.
